Vote for your Hidden Gem

New for 2025, we have an exciting exhibition called ‘What’s in Store?’.

Bringing rarely seen objects out of the store, it showcases the fascinating and unique stories from Pickering’s past. From everyday objects with surprising histories to remarkable finds, these objects have been carefully selected by volunteers and community groups.

Look at the objects below and vote for your favourite.  The three most popular exhibits will be put on long-term display in the museum.

With support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we’ve started a big project to revitalise our collection. We’re carefully reviewing what we have, making space for new stories and ensuring that every object we keep is properly cared for.

The objects below were all discovered as part of this process. They can be seen alongside our other hidden gems at our new exhibition What’s in Store, which runs from April to October 2025
